Samplize sells peel-and-stick paint samples that are made from actual paint (not dyed cardboard like you get on a paint chip). *While we are on the subject of paint samples, I recently tried a company called SAMPLIZE, and I’m a big fan. Here’s to growth □Īnd now you get to come back later this week for part II, where this plan goes completely wrong. So those are my exterior paint color selections, which I picked all in one day with minimal overthinking. I can feel y’all giving me a virtual pat on the back, and I want you to know I appreciate it. It’s not charcoal in some lights, or brownish black, or anything besides just plain old pure black. It is a true black without any undertones. Tricorn black is a very popular color right now, and for good reason. I also selected Tricorn Black from Sherwin Williams for the trim color….I didn’t even give myself multiple options on that. But fear is stupid when it comes to design, so Sophisticated Teal (that the neighbors might hate me for) was the winner. Then I resisted the urge to go back to Home Depot and grab five more samples of dark teal (because, you know, it’s a whole new color category and all) and sent my selection off to the builder.ĭid this color make me nervous? Heck yes. So I painted it in one more place just to be sure it was the one.Īnd it was. I had grabbed that sample just for the hell of it, probably so I would have something to eliminate immediately. While the lightest color is what I had in mind this whole time, there was something about that super dark teal I just loved. So here is Dragonfly, Sophisticated Teal, and Venus Teal. So here are my six samples up on the wall, in alphabetical order (I always recommend putting them in alphabetical order, in case you forget which is which.)įrom there I picked three to paint in another location… next to the orangy wood siding on the front. I got all of these from Home Depot including the Aegean Teal, even though it’s a Benjamin Moore color. Here are the candidates we chose – 6 Blue Exterior House Colors Then the little guy and I took a trip to Home Depot and choose five more colors. I immediately chose to try Aegean Teal by Benjamin Moore, since it was the color of the year in 2021 and super popular.įigured I couldn’t really go wrong with that choice, since I was seeing it everywhere and loved it every time. I know what I want….now I just slap some samples on the wall, pick one, and move on. I may (I definitely do) have a history of that. I also had a second and less important but still important mission, which was to not overthink the crap out of choosing this paint color. So picking out that color was my first and most important mission. Take my money, that is exactly what I wanted. Remember this picture for my exterior inspiration post? Either way, let’s dig in.įor the exterior of my house I wanted a dirty blue/teal/aqua color. Either that or you are just here to watch me design the ugliest house you have ever laid eyes on. And I’m thinking, that if you are here reading this, you just might be right there with me. I think a large percentage of the population would rather claw their eyes out (or worse, talk about monster trucks) than read a blog about paint colors, but I’m not one of them. I don’t think anyone is surprised by that statement, but I thought I’d clarify just in case someone thought I was secretly really into monster trucks or something.
